The Cross River Broadcasting Co-operation in association with the state Junior Engineers Technicians and Scientist Club (JETS CLUB) organized a three day educational interactive/competition program tagged ‘BRAIN WAVE’ .
BRAIN WAVE is an educational interactive/competition program designed to inform, update and develop not only the students but also the public in scientific areas.
In this edition of the program, 30 schools in Calabar were drawn into the competition with different topics given to each school to carry out a research and present it as seminar before students and a panel of Judges predominantly comprising of University lecturers, Doctors and Professors.
Auntie Margaret Memorial High School which was the 3rd school scheduled to present on day one took the centre stage after Ancilla Girls College with Master Ifiok Udoidiok speaker for Auntie Margaret Memorial High School presenting the topic “DNA FINGER PRINTING AND CRIME CONTROL IN NIGERIA”. Master Udoidiok in 15 minutes vividly elucidated the importance, advantages, uses and effects of DNA FINGER PRINTING not only in crime control but on other areas of applications. Akim Akim Model High School also did their presentation after Auntie Margaret Memorial High School as well as other participating schools on day1 and also on day2. On day3, after the last presentation by Henshaw Town Secondary School, the Judges released the scores for each schools in the competition. From the summary of results, Auntie Margaret Memorial High school emerged 1st prize winner as they hit the highest score of 320points for the competition. Light Way Schools occupied the second position with 307points and Police Secondary School 3rd with 306points.
The producer of the program Miss Asari Oku congratulated the school for the stunning performance as she presented the prize to the school on behalf of the MD of the Co-operation. Miss Asari also said that the program BRAIN WAVE goes on air (CRBC TV) every Tuesday by 3.30pm.
